A guide to our motifs
Each Ghurza piece is built around a traditional motif. Here is what they mean.
Orange Blossom · زهر البرتقال
Recalls the citrus groves of Yafa. A symbol of home, harvest and return. Find it on the Bayara Thobe.
Saru · السرو (Cypress)
An evergreen tree that stays green through every season — strength, steadfastness and long life. See the Saru Kaftan.
Qamar Beit Lahm · قمر بيت لحم (Moon of Bethlehem)
The eight-pointed star of Bethlehem embroidery, said to guide travellers home. See the Qamar Kimono.
Sunbula · السنبلة (Wheat Ear)
The harvest, abundance and the land that feeds the family. See the Sunbula Shirt.
Snan al-Ajouz · سنان العجوز (Old Man's Teeth)
One of the oldest borders in Palestinian embroidery, used to frame and protect a design. See the Denim Jacket.
