A bayara is an orange grove — the citrus orchards that once ran along the coast from Yafa to Gaza, their blossom scenting the air each spring. Our new collection takes its name, and its palette, from them.
The colours
Terracotta for the earth and the clay of old houses. Ecru for blossom. A deep grove green for the leaves. Every piece in the collection is stitched in these three tones.
The motif
At its heart is the orange-blossom border, stitched by hand across the chest panel of the Bayara Thobe and along the edge of the silk scarf. A single thobe panel takes around forty hours to complete.
Stitch it yourself
For the first time, the motif is also available as a downloadable pattern, so you can carry a piece of the grove into your own work.
